In an attempt to better record and report battles, I have developed a system to track the flow of dice in a game of MonPoc.  Note that this is not a notation system that will allow for a complete recreation of any particular game; instead it is designed to track dice flow and serve as a reminder to the participants for better battle reports.  Positioning in MonPoc is at least as important as dice management; but tracking the movement of each individual piece in MonPoc is too time consuming to execute on a clock. I have tested this dice…

Riker's Iron - Midnight MonPoc at Lock n Load 2019

Greetings from Riker's Iron

For those of you who do not know me yet, I am Game Master Riker, long time twitch streamer of all things Privateer Press and fan of PP products approaching a decade. I am a giant monster movie lover with a pacific rim collection people have to see to believe, a player of warmahordes, IKRPG and 1.0poc. When monpoc returned it was perfect timing for our twitch/discord community and we jumped in, full sails; recruiting people into the game offline and online ever since.

Hello!  My name is Jeff “Gearbox” Mitchell and I managed to win the two-monster tournament at Lock and Load 2019.

As of this writing, that was two days ago.  For those not in the know, Lock and Load is the Privateer Press exclusive convention put on by the company themselves.  It’s an opportunity to rub elbows with the developers and talk shop with this fantastic community in person while competing at the highest level.  I’ve had multiple requests for an event writeup from my perspective, specifically surrounding the tournament, so here’s my report about the whole weekend.

    Up at…

The CEO of UberCorp International was silent.

This did not bode well for the division heads in the call.

Silence meant unhappiness.  Unhappiness meant judgement.

Cyber Khan was behind schedule.

“We are building to the original specifications that Engineering signed off on months ago,” said Production, desperately trying to pass the blame.

“Specs that did away with superfluous weight for better bipedal balance,” came Engineering’s reply, sticking to their guns as always.

“The tail saw is not superfluous!” barked Design, “It is an integral weapon system that was added to enhance the destructive properties of the entire package.”…

For those of you who played Monpoc v1.0, Team Covenant originally created "31 days to mastering monsterpocalypse" to help bolster discussion and analysis of our favored game, but most players didn't participate because the commitment of 31 days was simply too arduous. So we set out to solve that by making it shorter and relevant to the new 2.0 format.

So now that we have the physical models in our hands, It's time to start "14-Days to Master Monsterpocalypse". Here is the idea - You walk through the selection, planning and retrospectives of a single list for 14-days.…

The Colonel fidgeted in the embrace of his harness.

Waiting.

“Solid boosters armed,” came over the launch channel.  Just like it had in the simulator.

T minus 4 minutes and 17 seconds

He reflected on the uniqueness of his situation.  Monsters had come to Earth.  From Mars, the stars, and dimensions beyond.  In response, the nations of the globe had bonded together in “united advanced research and defense.”  He’d just recorded his sixteen hundredth hour of flying fighter jets when GUARD was created.

T minus 4 minutes and 3 seconds.

They’d rolled him into this new worldwide military.…
